Auto-How can I lower the cost of my Auto insurance? There are many factors that go into calculating auto insurance premiums, but two of the most important factors are the kind of car you drive and your driving record. The bottom line is, the more your vehicle is worth, the more it will cost to insure it. Plus if you have marks on your driving record, you will pay more. If you drive a higher-end vehicle, adding safety modifications such as anti-theft devices can help lower your premium. You can also reduce the amount of miles you drive and bundle policies to get a multi-policy discount. Back to TopAuto-Are there any Auto insurance discounts available?Yes, Farmers® offers several discounting options for your auto insurance. Special discounts are offered to architects, attorneys, automotive personnel, CFP's, CPA's, dentists, doctors, engineers, firefighters, military personnel, nurses, police officers, scientists and teachers. Farmers also provides discounts for homeowners, good students, teens with parents with safe driving records and more. Be sure to contact one of our agents for a complete list of available auto insurance discounts.Back to TopAuto-I just installed a new stereo iny my car, do I need special coverage? If you add new/optional stereo equipment to your vehicle, you should definitely consider adding a special endorsement to your auto insurance policy to fully cover these items. That way, they will be covered in the event of theft or damage. If you are considering adding new equipment to your vehicle, or you've already added it, please contact us and we'll help you find the best endorsement to cover it. Back to TopHomeowners-If I had to rebuild my home at today's prices, how much would it cost?
Your home is most likely your most substantial investment. Making sure it is properly insured is one of the most important things you can do to protect your equity and investment. The cost of rebuilding your home will depend mostly on these main factors: Back to TopHomeowners-How much would it cost to replace all of the contents in my home?Losing your home and its contents would be emotionally and financially devastating. A homeowners, Renters or Condo policy from Farmers® well help ease this distress if the unimaginable happens, subject to policy limits and conditions. You can insure your personal possessions with replacement cost coverage, or actual cash value .
Square footage and local construction costs
- Exterior wall construction (frame, brick, veneer, etc.)
- Type of roof (shingles, tar, etc.)
- Style of house (rancher, colonial, cape cod, etc.)
- Number of bathrooms, bedrooms, and other rooms
- Attached structures (garages) number of fireplaces, and special/unique features such as skylights, arched windows, etc.
Replacement cost coverage will pay the dollar amount needed to replace the personal property item, up to the maximum dollar amount, without a deduction for depreciation.
Actual cash value pays the dollar amount equal to the replacement value of the damaged/destroyed property less depreciation.
Make sure you understand which type of coverage you have in your homeowners insurance policy, because unless your policy specifies that your property is covered for its replacement value, the coverage is for actual cash value.
It's easy to miscalculate the amount of content coverage you actually need. One analogy that we like to use is imagine taking your house, turning it upside down, and shaking out all of the contents. That is what you would need to replace, including everything from big ticket items like your flat-screen TV all the way to small/less expensive items like silver wear. Back to TopHomeowners-Will making my home safer save me money?
